REPORT ON U.S. FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR EUROPEAN RESEARCHERS
This report is a product of the BILAT USA 4.0 project, funded by the European Union, and started on 1 February 2016. BILAT USA 4.0 continues activities started by the predecessor projects BILAT USA and BILAT USA 2.0 with the aim to enhance and develop science, technology, and innovation (STI) partnerships between the U.S. and Europe. A particular focus of the project activities will be put on an intensification of interactions between EU and US researchers and innovators, the support for the improvement of research and innovation framework conditions, the provision of analyses delivering a sound base for political decision making and an enhanced coordination and synergies between different European and US policies and programs.
To increase awareness about which US sources are appropriate and viable to EU researchers, BILAT USA 4.0 commissioned this report and its accompanying database to solve part of this problem: helping EU researchers find potential sources of US funding. In order to provide meaningful information, this report does not identify individual funding opportunities. The report includes descriptions for 26 US federal agencies and 30 non-federal agencies to help EU scientists and academics self-identify funding opportunities to support their research.
