27 October 2017
We are pleased to invite you to attend the US launch of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Work Programme 2018-2020 on Friday, October 27, 2017.
Horizon 2020 is the European Union's Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, with a budget of €77 billion between 2014 and 2020 to support scientifically-excellent research, innovation, and technological development, through collaborative research projects as well as grants and fellowships to individuals. It is open to the world, so US researchers are very welcome to get involved.
The event is co-hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to the United States and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. The launch will take place on Friday 27 October 2017 from 8.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. at the Wilson Center, located inside the Reagan Building at 1300 Pennsylvania Ave. NW in Washington D.C. Registration will open at 7:30 a.m. and a plated breakfast will be served. The programme will begin promptly at 8.00 a.m.
Distinguished speakers will include Robert-Jan Smits, Director General for Research and Innovation, at the European Commission, and Lisa Brodey, Director of the Office for Science and Technology Cooperation, US Department of State.
The speakers will provide an insight into the newly launched calls for proposals (solicitations) within the final Work Programme of Horizon 2020, and notably the opportunities open to US researchers seeking to cooperate with European partners.
The event is offered free of charge, however, space is limited so online registration is mandatory for all attendees and can be completed here.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Mary Kavanagh, Minister Counsellor for Research and Innovation, Delegation of the European Union to the United States
Dr. Anne Bowser, Senior Program Associate at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars
