Trans-Atlantic Symposium on ICT Technology and Policy, Minneapolis, USA

 

BILAT USA 4.0 is pleased to invite you to the “Trans-Atlantic Symposium on ICT Technology and Policy – 5G Networks, Big Data, Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems for a Smart Society” to be held in Minneapolis, June 19-20, 2017. The event is organized by the PICASSO project and hosted by the Technological Leadership Institute, University of Minnesota.

The event will comprise a combination of keynote lectures and plenary and parallel sessions, animated by a wide range of high-level technical and policy experts from the EU and US. The speakers and panelists include leaders from industry, academia, government agencies (including NSF, NIST, and the European Commission) and leading national and international private-public initiatives. By participating in the symposium you can expect to gain insight into the latest developments and trends in key information and communication technologies (ICT), as well as customer needs in smart-society sectors, ICT policy issues, and EU-US collaboration and funding opportunities.

Goals of the Symposium

The “Trans-Atlantic Symposium on ICT Technology and Policy – 5G Networks, Big Data, Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems for a Smart Society”, organised by the European Commission-funded PICASSO project, hosted by the Technological Leadership Institute, University of Minnesota, and co-sponsored by additional EU and US organisations, will cover the spectrum from research assessments via commercialisation opportunities to policy issues in information and communication technologies (ICT) such as 5G networks, Big Data, and the Internet of Things (IoT)/cyber-physical systems (CPS).

In addition to PICASSO, session organisers include BILAT USA 4.0, Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, and Clean Energy Economy Minnesota.

Comprising a combination of plenary and parallel sessions, the symposium will set focus on impacts for a smart society and related industry sectors.

The event will also present “opportunity reports”, including prioritisation of R&D and application needs, and recommended areas for EU-US collaboration, that have recently been prepared by the PICASSO Expert Groups in IoT/CPS, 5G networks, Big Data and Policy.

Registration fee: The registration fee of USD 200.00 covers event participation, lunches and breaks on both days, and the networking reception on June 19th.

We anticipate the availability of travel grants for US graduate students thanks to the U.S. National Science Foundation. More information is available here.
